Hubiba Ali

“Hearing about EL before I got involved, I felt a sort of pity for the girls. Since my first day in classes 4 years ago, I haven’t felt that way again. The girls deserve so much more than pity because they aren’t sob stories, they’re young women who are so devoted to making a change, it’s unbelievable. They’re strong and kind and funny and unique and should be recognized for that.”

Hubiba is the computer teacher during the conference. As she explains, "Each girl receives a computer to take home with her to Niger or Benin, so it’s important that she knows how to use it effectively. We work on programs they could use at work or school like Powerpoint or Excel, in addition to learning about online research and knowing which sites are reliable."
